Falling Kingdoms by Morgan Rhodes | Review of Book 1

The book I discovered from Goodreads back in 2014 when I started reading. This is the first book I have ever read of Morgan Rhodes. This is a high fantasy genre with an amazing plot, political intrigue, epic magical powers, and awesome characters. the story revolves around 4 main characters...

I have forgotten some stuff here. But I will do my best to give an honest review.

A little summary and viewpoint:

This is a high fantasy genre with an amazing plot, political intrigue, epic magical powers, and awesome characters. the story revolves around 4 main characters two girls and two guys.

The book was very fast-paced I was totally absorbed into the world and bam the book has finished.

The royal characters are typical royal characters in the story. I like the character of Jonas and his little rebellion and whatever he is doing to survive in the realm. He is that character of the book with a tragic past and his life is filled with tragedy he is also doing something of value and focusing on a better future.

There are 4 kingdoms and then there is a magical realm called a Sanctuary. The 4 kingdoms have political tensions among them always trying to prove which one is stronger always running after more power. The two kings are the most competitive ones in the story.

There is some kind of incest here too because Magnus is in love with his sister and he is torturous about it too  He knows it is wrong and there is an inner struggle with him. His sister is Lucia who has some kind of magic and their father treats her like a precious commodity and uses her in his power play. Lucia is a very innocent character and the dynamics of Magnus and Lucia's relationship are pure and heartwarming. Magnus always protects her and he is so gentle with her that made my heart warm.

Princess Cleo. let's talk about her, she is an interesting character, everyone is in love with her and she is beautiful :p

Honest review:

Okay, so when I first read this book it was amazing like I was so engrossed in it because I am just starting reading. I didn't know about the intricacies of writing and stuff. So this book was pretty awesome to me.

Now after reading so many books that I cannot count. I reread it and I have somethings to say.

- The world-building is not that good. It is okay but not amazing. it could have been more detailed and awesome.
- The characters are okay, not complicated because all characters are stuck in their characteristics loop. Although I can say that they have margins of improvement which I am pretty sure will happen in the following books.
- The plot is amazing and consistent which is a positive point of this book.

I would love to see who ends up with whom I am sensing there is going to be big twist in the upcoming books.

A Critical Lens on 'Hunting Adeline' by H.D. Carlton: Exploring the Disturbing Themes | A Review

I kept delaying writing the review because I had to remember it and didn't want to do that. This 2nd book of Cat and Mouse duet is the story of a human trafficking survivor. This book is a huge  TRIGGER WARNING . Kindly proceed with caution. I even got traumatized after reading it. So to explain the synopsis; Adeline (the main character) got kidnapped at the end of the first book and sold to some people who groomed her for some very rich and powerful clients.  Almost half of the book is based on Adeline surviving the worst situations possible for a woman. Adeline had one advantage someone was fervently searching for her, and eventually, Zade managed to rescue her after four agonizing months. The scene when Zade finds her and she just could not believe it. She crumbled to her knees thinking she was hallucinating. After Zade brings her home she struggles so hard to process her trauma. She learns to fight to take control of her life. She gets close to her mother. She hates h...

What's Up, Readers!! Welcome to Quills and Pages. I finally got myself to sit down to write this review for the second book of Bloodwing Academy series. Today is a good day because it's cloudy and windy with a chance of slight rain....and nothing puts my mood better than a chance of rain and wind. anyway let's get started!! BLURB At Bloodwing Academy, blood is currency, but a dragon's legacy is priceless–and as dangerous as fire. I thought surviving my first year in Bloodwing's deadly halls would be enough. I was wrong. I just finished On Wings of Blood arc....and now I am here to write the review. the book is written by Briar Boleyn and Thank you to Netgally and the author for this arc. iSo, let's start the review BLURB I didn't sign up for this. A half-fae in a school of highblood vampires? That's a recipe for torment. I'm Medra Pendragon—last of the dragon riders, or so they tell me. Funny thing is, there are no dragons left. Not a single one. But somehow, that hasn't stopped the vampires from deciding I'm worth capturing. Now I'm stuck at Bloodwing Academy, where the highbloods run everything and blightborn like me? We're just blood in their veins, pawns in their games. But that's not even the worst part. Enter Blake Drakharrow. Cold, arrogant, and way too gorgeous for his own good. He's been tormenting me since the moment we met, and now, thanks to some ancient ritual, we're betrothed. He acts like h...
