My Review of Gold Book 5 of the Plated Prisoner Series written by Raven Kennedy

I am having a mixed feeling right now. I just finished reading this 5th book in the series and I am......well, I don't know what I feel. This book was an emotional rollercoaster. It made me feel things.....things I have long forgotten....things people write books about.....I am rambling again but this is my mental state at this point....this is all due to Raven Kennedy and her books.

I found this book series from booktok last year. It was not very popular but someone recommended reading it and when I read the series......omg 🤌🤌. The book is a retelling of King Midas and his golden touch but there is a twist in this book.....King Midas is a fraud in this book and he is keeping a girl prisoner who has the golden touch. Here is the synopsis;

"Find me in another life. Find me in them all."

Every end is also a beginning.

I thought I was going to die, and would have if it weren’t for Slade. The only way he could save me was to open a rip between worlds. The only way for me to save myself was to go through it.

Sometimes, fleeing one dangerous place just brings you to another.

Annwyn.

The realm of the fae.

There is magic and beauty here, though around every corner, threats lurk.

But I’m a threat too.

I’m not a girl in a gilded cage anymore, and no one is going to stop me from finding my way back to Slade.

But returning home means facing danger and secrets. So I have to burn bright enough to light my own way…

Or else I might be swallowed by the dark.

MY REVIEW
The book has so many iconic moments that I was waiting for a long time and these moments are amazingly written. There are also introductions of many new characters and I fell in love with all of them.

So in the last book, Auren was passed through the rip (portal to Fae Realm), and now she is in Annwyn, and throughout the whole book Auren and Rip are struggling to go to each other but failing epically. I am sad and disappointed that his book doesn't have Slade and Auren moments but there are other iconic moments that were much needed and appreciated. Here are some of those;

  1. Finally someone showed Queen Malina the mirror.....she kind of deserved what happened to her in this book but in the end, I felt sad for her. This book finally explains why Malina is so bitter and always going about me me and me. She was horrible to Auren and I wished she got the same treatment in this book she got and she finally started to feel for Auren how Auren hated to be imprisoned and how she hated Midas.
  2. Auren goes back to Annwyn and finds out about her parents and her home. It was so heartbreaking to read those scenes where Auren remembers her parents, her home, and her childhood...I kind of hoped that her parents were alive but it was sad to find out they were murdered along with the whole city 20 years ago just because they were a threat to the throne.
  3. Auren making friends was just beautiful and heartbreaking......how she was betrayed again and again to finally make real and sincere friends. In her past making friends was never easy for her, everyone around her wanted her for other reasons. But now she has genuine friends. Emmonie is the new friend character. I am already in love with her. I don't know if my heart will take it if she is not alive in the next book....she has such a vibrant unique and awesome personality....Auren needs friends like Emmonie.
  4. Slade goes from kingdom to kingdom and lays waste to their territory and castles because they helped in the Conflux by sentencing Auren to die. Slade has become the villain for Auren as he always promised. My heart goes out to both of them.
  5. Slade killed Merwen and his wife, King and Queen of I forgot which kingdom it was. He treated them the same way they treated Auren and then killed them. Finally good riddance. They were the most hated characters of the last book.
  6. Fae attacked the Sixth kingdom. The moment when the armies came to the entrance and Queen Kaila saw it. She went into shock by seeing the army now realizing Malina was speaking the truth. That was an iconic moment.
  7. Auren facing off with Lord Cull. oh, that was the most iconic moment of all. Remember how Slade and his fellows came into Orea. yeah...Lord Cull is Slade's Father. One moment Auren finds it out and the next she attacks him to save Slade's Mother. She fought awesomely against Cull, I am amazed at how powerful she has become.

Sigh!!!. but I am so afraid for Auren. My girl is through so much and the ending of this book is filling me with dread that something horrible is going to happen to her again. How much pain and suffering a person can take? Auren has a heartbreakingly beautiful and innocent heart and she is being used and abused again and again. She was a kid when she was stolen and sold into slavery, she was used for sex and then Midas found her. She thought she was saved but he used her again for her gold and securing his kingship. She was imprisoned and then when she finally got some spine back her ribbons were cut off, she was abducted to sent to Conflux to stand trial for murdering Midas and stealing his gold touch. I mean......The author has touched something in me by writing the story of Auren. There is one thing tho.....she has Slade who will burn the world to get to her and I am hoping he does...

The Awakening | Zodiac Academy Series written by Caroline Peckham and Suzanne Valenti | A Book Review

Alright, here I am, sharing my thoughts on the first book The Awakening from Zodiac Academy series written by Caroline Peckham and Susanne Valenti . I decided to start reviewing this series as it falls under the 'enemies to lovers ' and 'bullies romance' genres, which are right up my alley. I'm a sucker for this type of book and I am always on the hunt for such books. Someone made a video of this book on TikTok and I was like I had to read it. So, I began reading the book and I fell into a rabbit hole of Magic Academy, hot assholes, and alternative Fae world. It felt like diving into a more mature version of Harry Potter. Needless to say, I absolutely loved this first installment. Tiktok made me read it | My Fault | Culpa Mia (Culpable 1)

This line is fire... How did I fall? Easy. He turned my world upside down My Fault is the book I found out from TikTok. I watched the movie first and then I thought why not give it a read. This review aims to provide insight into the book and the movie adaptation. I will analyze the plot, characters, and writing style, and give an overall rating. It will assist you in deciding whether to indulge in the book the movie or both. "My Fault" written by Mercedes Ron is a captivating book that tells the story of a love-hate relationship between Noah and Nick. This book has been adapted into a movie that has caught the attention of many romance enthusiasts.  I was surprised to find out that the book is very well written as many books that go viral on TikTok are not really well written. there were no plot holes, no dragging, simple and steady storyline.  The story centers around Noah and Nick who are step-siblings and both are grappling with personal demons. Noah is dealing ...

Where is Molly by H.D Carlton | A Review

  Where is Molly is a stand alone book written by H.D Carlton. It is set in the Universe of Haunting Adeline. The story revolves around Molly...the girl we found in Hunting Adeline. Her diary was founded by Adeline under the floor and us readers always wanted to know if she succeeded in running away from that awful place.  Blurb A spinoff of the Cat & Mouse Duet... “Molly Devereaux has been missing for more than two weeks, and police are still searching for the girl who seemed to vanish out of thin air. The world still wants to know... Where's Molly?” In my dreams, I never escaped the Oregon woods. Life after death isn't easy to accept, especially when I still feel like a ghost. Now, I live deep in the mountains of Montana—the paradigm of beauty. But they are also the home of horrors. Horrors that I only unleash at night. When my pigs are allowed to feast. It is strongly recommended to read Haunting Adeline and Hunting Adeline before reading Where's Molly. Important No...

Lightlark by Alex Aster | A Book Review

A Fellow booktoker recommended me this book. She talks about it all the time and makes really catchy videos featuring this Duology. I got interested and purchased this book. Lightlark is the first book in the series written by Alex Aster. I got to know some pretty interesting facts about the Author and how this book was published. You should learn it too this is not my story to tell 😅. Anyhow I started reading this book in March and finished it one week. Somehow I got late in writing and reviewed all the books I read in March. So now I am starting again. This is the brief of this book on Goodreads; Welcome to the Centennial. Every 100 years, the island of Lightlark appears to host the Centennial, a deadly game that only the rulers of six realms are invited to play. The invitation is a summons—a call to embrace victory and ruin, baubles and blood. The Centennial offers the six rulers one final chance to break the curses that have plagued their realms for centuries. Each ruler has somet...
