BLURB

From Aurealis Award‑nominated author Devin Madson comes a new rip-roaring epic fantasy full of dragons, alchemical magic, and forbidden romance that unfolds as three people in a shattered empire become entangled in a looming revolution. The old kingdom of Paicha has been split into city states, but there are those who seek to reunite the shattered realm-by force if necessary. Amidst the turmoil there are three who will find their destinies inextricably tangled. Tesha is a glassblower's apprentice who becomes a tribute bride when her city is conquered by the south. In the enemy's court, she's perfectly placed to sabotage them, but her heart has other plans. Naili is a laundress in the house of an eccentric alchemist who is awakening to strange new powers. When radicals approach her, she faces a choice between keeping her magic to herself and using it to change the world. And in the desolate Shield Mountains, dragon rider Ash protects the cities from the monsters in the Iipao sands beyond. But, soon he'll have to learn how to protect his dragon when hunters unlock the secret to killing them. As war sweeps across the land, Tesha, Naili, and Ash must fight for survival against political enemies, dragon hunters, and monsters both within and without.

MY REVIEW
The audiobook focuses on three characters pov. Naili, Tesha, and Ash. All have their own storyline and each one is as gripping as the other one. I liked Naili and Tesha more. because I have a thing for spies and secret missions 😅lol.

Let's start with Naili; she is working as a laundress with other girls at the great and famous Alchemist who she saw. Then one day she wakes with strange things happening, their colleague missing and she decides to set herself on the quest to find what exactly the Alchemist is doing with the laundresses.

The next storyline is of Tesha. She is in love with someone but then breaks ties with him because he is the son of a lord from a region she dislikes. She has her own political alliances and beliefs but ends up working with the said son to save her city/country or however you put it. She becomes an insult bride (interesting term) to the brother of the person who is running the whole political show of reuniting the two countries also known as the Reacher. But her actual mission is to kill the Reacher and will she succeed?... Well, you have to read to find out 😋.

The third Story is of Ash who is also the son of an important Lord but exiled to go and defend the borders. He is also a dragon rider and he has an interesting love-hate disdain relationship with his dragon. the dragon hates him but he loves her....it's a confusing situation 😂. He finds out some very carefully hidden secrets

On the whole, the story is good, but the audiobook is amazing..I cannot wait for the next books to come out. It's a 4 star read and I recommend it.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Devin Madson is an Aurealis Award-winning fantasy author from Australia. After some sucky teenage years, she gave up reality and is now a dual-wielding rogue who works through every tiny side-quest and always ends up too over-powered for the final boss. Anything but zen, Devin subsists on tea and chocolate and so much fried zucchini she ought to have turned into one by now. Her fantasy novels come in all shades of grey and are populated with characters of questionable morals and a liking for witty banter. You can find more of her books here (Website Link).

The Awakening | Zodiac Academy Series written by Caroline Peckham and Suzanne Valenti | A Book Review

Alright, here I am, sharing my thoughts on the first book The Awakening from Zodiac Academy series written by Caroline Peckham and Susanne Valenti . I decided to start reviewing this series as it falls under the 'enemies to lovers ' and 'bullies romance' genres, which are right up my alley. I'm a sucker for this type of book and I am always on the hunt for such books. Someone made a video of this book on TikTok and I was like I had to read it. So, I began reading the book and I fell into a rabbit hole of Magic Academy, hot assholes, and alternative Fae world. It felt like diving into a more mature version of Harry Potter. Needless to say, I absolutely loved this first installment. My Review of Gold Book 5 of the Plated Prisoner Series written by Raven Kennedy

I am having a mixed feeling right now. I just finished reading this 5th book in the series and I am......well, I don't know what I feel. This book was an emotional rollercoaster. It made me feel things.....things I have long forgotten....things people write books about.....I am rambling again but this is my mental state at this point....this is all due to Raven Kennedy and her books. I found this book series from booktok last year. It was not very popular but someone recommended reading it and when I read the series......omg 🤌🤌. The book is a retelling of King Midas and his golden touch but there is a twist in this book.....King Midas is a fraud in this book and he is keeping a girl prisoner who has the golden touch.   Here is the synopsis;  "Find me in another life. Find me in them all." Every end is also a beginning. I thought I was going to die, and would have if it weren’t for Slade. The only way he could save me was to open a rip between worlds. The only way for me

Where is Molly by H.D Carlton | A Review

Where is Molly is a stand alone book written by H.D Carlton. It is set in the Universe of Haunting Adeline. The story revolves around Molly...the girl we found in Hunting Adeline. Her diary was founded by Adeline under the floor and us readers always wanted to know if she succeeded in running away from that awful place.  Blurb A spinoff of the Cat & Mouse Duet... “Molly Devereaux has been missing for more than two weeks, and police are still searching for the girl who seemed to vanish out of thin air. The world still wants to know... Where's Molly?” In my dreams, I never escaped the Oregon woods. Life after death isn't easy to accept, especially when I still feel like a ghost. Now, I live deep in the mountains of Montana—the paradigm of beauty. But they are also the home of horrors. Horrors that I only unleash at night. When my pigs are allowed to feast. It is strongly recommended to read Haunting Adeline and Hunting Adeline before reading Where's Molly. Important No

Lightlark by Alex Aster | A Book Review

A Fellow booktoker recommended me this book. She talks about it all the time and makes really catchy videos featuring this Duology. I got interested and purchased this book. Lightlark is the first book in the series written by Alex Aster. I got to know some pretty interesting facts about the Author and how this book was published. You should learn it too this is not my story to tell 😅. Anyhow I started reading this book in March and finished it one week. Somehow I got late in writing and reviewed all the books I read in March. So now I am starting again. This is the brief of this book on Goodreads; Welcome to the Centennial. Every 100 years, the island of Lightlark appears to host the Centennial, a deadly game that only the rulers of six realms are invited to play. The invitation is a summons—a call to embrace victory and ruin, baubles and blood. The Centennial offers the six rulers one final chance to break the curses that have plagued their realms for centuries. Each ruler has somet

A Curse for True Love by Stephanie Garber | A Book Review

This is the third book in the Once Upon a Broken Heart series . I would say a good conclusion to the series. I was not expecting things to happen in this book but it fills with twists and turns. this is the description of this book; Two villains, one girl, and a deadly battle for happily ever after. Evangeline Fox ventured to the Magnificent North in search of her happy ending, and it seems as if she has it. She’s married to a handsome prince and lives in a legendary castle. But Evangeline has no idea of the devastating price she’s paid for this fairytale. She doesn’t know what she has lost, and her husband is determined to make sure she never finds out . . . but first he must kill Jacks, the Prince of Hearts. Blood will be shed, hearts will be stolen, and true love will be put to the test in A Curse for True Love, the breathlessly anticipated conclusion to the Once Upon A Broken Heart trilogy.
