My Review
The start of Moonborn feels like a nightmare. Our FMC witnesses a horrifying scene. And this is a place where some women are simply property for some rich weasel of a man, and these young women use secrets to go by or earn their freedom. The city is run by a so-called priest who is against magic, and they habitually pick women among the masses to burn at the stake(alive) just because they can…well, not they can; they have a process they accuse them of being a moonborn, or they accuse them of birthing a moonborn (which is a different kind of magic). The start of a book was a horror show. As the story progressed, everything changed….like the scenery, the places. It goes from gloomy to beautiful. Everything becomes magical. What I loved about this book is reading about all these whimsical places our FMC got to go.
And then problems start for our FMC one after another. The first is all about the adventure of finding herself, i.e the original story of her: who she is and where she came from, and she did find it at the end of the book, which leads to opening up another can of worms because there are so many characters who are after her. This whole thing surrounding her: the dream sequences, stolen memories, soul connections, and hidden history. It created an atmosphere that constantly made me question what is happening, what will happen, what is real and what is not real.
In short, if you’re a fan of fantasy romances where the world feels alive, the mystery keeps you guessing, and the romance is wrapped in fate, dreams, and ancient secrets, Moonborn should be on your TBR.
