MY REVIEW
Sometimes I finish a book and think, “That was fun.”
Sometimes I finish a book and think, “That emotionally destroyed me.”
And then there’s Havoc at Prescott High, where I finished the first book thinking, “I genuinely need to go touch grass.”
I went into this book expecting your average high school drama with a dash of reverse harem ofcourse—you know, gossip, cafeteria politics, maybe someone crying in the bathroom and some silly hot boys saving the girl from bullies. Instead, I got a girl signing a legally questionable contract to become the emotional support girlfriend of five walking red flags whose hobbies include violence, revenge, and making therapy bills skyrocket…………..I think I covered it okay.
I love dark romance. I don’t mind morally gray characters. Give me villains, anti-heroes, questionable decisions, revenge plots, and enough red flags to decorate an entire football field. I eat that stuff up. But this? The premise hooked me immediately. A girl who has spent a year being bullied by the Havoc Boys makes a deal with the very people who ruined her life so she can get revenge on everyone else. It’s chaotic. It’s dramatic. It’s completely unhinged.
I was intrigued.
Unfortunately, the deeper I got into the story, it did’nt work for me
The bullying isn’t just there as backstory—it feels relentless. The power imbalance between the characters never really gave me enough emotional payoff to justify everything that came before. Instead of tension, I mostly felt exhausted.
And while I know dark romance isn’t supposed to be healthy (that’s literally the point), I still need something that makes me root for the characters. Chemistry. Vulnerability. Growth. Anything that convinces me these people are becoming better versions of themselves.
Instead, I spent most of the book wondering if literally everyone needed years of therapy.
In short, I read the book because i kinda liked it , i coudnt leave it in the middle, I just couldn’t connect with the story. i will be continuing the series ofcourse. i dont leave things in the middle but first i nreally need to go out and touch grass…lol
Havoc at Prescott High is one of those books people either become obsessed with or immediately DNF. I can absolutely understand why it has such a dedicated fanbase, the drama is nonstop, the stakes are high, and the chaos never lets up. If this is your thing you should read it.
